In an interesting turn of events, Volkswagen dealerships in Gujarat operated by Group Landmark have recently been included in the Asia Book of Records (ABR) and the India Book of Records (IBR) for the most Volkswagen single model cars made were sold by a dealer in a single day. The ABR and IBR authorities presented the record-breaking certificate to Garima Misra, Managing Director, Group Landmark, at a ceremony in New Delhi. The dealership delivered about 165 units of the all-new Volkswagen Virtus across Gujarat on the first delivery day, June 21, 2022.

Commenting on achieving this record, Sanjay Thakker, Chairman and Founder of Group Landmark said: “We are absolutely thrilled to receive this award from Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records. The new record is a testament not only to Group Landmark’s expansive network, but also to the delightful customer experiences the brand promises and continues to deliver. The success also demonstrates the phenomenal response the new Volkswagen sedan has received from customers across Gujarat.” He added, “Going forward, our customers can rest assured that Group Landmark will continue to be the first port of call for their car purchases. “

Meanwhile, Garima Misra, Managing Director, Group Landmark, stated: “We were certain that Volkswagen Virtus would reinvigorate the premium midsize sedan segment and the overwhelming response from customers is a testament to that. The fact that Group Landmark’s name is now inscribed in the Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records is an incredible honor and our aspiration is to continue providing the best products and services to our customers.”

Earlier this month, another Volkswagen dealership in India delivered 150 Virtus units in a single day. EVM Volkswagen, based in Cochin, Kerala, organized a mega delivery event where all owners were invited at the same time. Before the Gujrat-based dealership took the record, it was held by EVM VW dealership.

The new Volkswagen Virtus is based on the MQB A0 IN platform, which also serves as the basis for the VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq and Skoda Slavia. The new Virtus is larger than the Slavia. It also takes the discontinued Jetta’s place in the lineup. The car’s top-tier GT Line trim level includes elements such as a trunk-mounted spoiler.

The Virtus is available in two trim levels: Dynamic Line and Performance Line. It is comparable to the VW Taigun. The Dynamic Line has three variants. The Dynamic Line variants are only available with the 1.0-liter turbo petrol engine. Only the GT Plus model is available in the top class Performance Line. It only comes with a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and an automatic DSG gearbox.

The Virtus comes with two engine variants from Volkswagen. These are the same engines as in the Skoda Slavia, VW Taigun and Skoda Kushaq. The 1.0 liter TSI engine develops a maximum output of 115 hp and a maximum torque of 178 Nm. With this engine, VW offers a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic transmission.

A Volkswagen dealership in Kochi, Kerala recently set a record by delivering 150 Virtus sedans. The new record beats that.
