The new DC League of Super-Pets trailer includes a Garfield appearance

A new trailer for Warner Bros.’ DC League of Super Pets includes a surprise cameo appearance from another famous cartoon pet: Garfield.

The short TV spot shared on Reddit for the upcoming animated film from Warner Bros. and DC features the League of Superbeasts in a car. When PB, a pot-bellied pig who can change size at will, grows to fill the car and pin the rest of the pets against the windows, the turtle Merton sees a Garfield window toy and asks, “What’s up, handsome? ”

Created by Jim Davis, Garfield is a comic originally published in 1976 chronicling the lives of an orange, lasagna-loving cat named Garfield, his owner Jon Arbuckle, and Odie the Dog.

Loosely based on the Legion of Super-Pets introduced in adventure comics #293 by Jerry Siegel, Curt Swan and George Klein in 1962, DC League of Super Pets Stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the voice of Krypto the Superdog, Superman’s canine sidekick. The film follows Krypto and Batman’s canine companion, Ace the Bat-Hound (voiced by Kevin Hart), as they form their own superhero team of shelter animals after the Justice League is captured by Lex Luthor. The League of Super Beasts consists of PB (Vanessa Bayer), Merton, a super-speed turtle (Natasha Lyonne), and an electric squirrel named Chip (Diego Luna). PB, Merton, and Chip become Wonder Woman, Flash, and Green Lantern’s respective pets.


A new breed of Justice League

Along with this new trailer, Warner Bros. also released a series of posters showing the Justice League as they will appear in the upcoming film, each with a personalized tagline, including John Krasinski as Superman/Clark Kent, Keanu Reeves as Bruce Wayne/ Batman , Olivia Wilde as Lois Lane, John Early as The Flash, Jameela Jamil as Wonder Woman, Jemaine Clement as Aquaman, Daveed Diggs as Cyborg, Dascha Polanco as Jessica Cruz/Green Lantern and Marc Maron as Lex Luthor.

The first League of Super Pets Trailer released by Warner Bros. in November 2021. “It’s a lot of fun,” producer Hiram Garcia said of the animated film in August 2021. “As a Superman fan and a huge dog lover, to have the ability to tell the story of Krypto and Superman is a dream come true! It’s such an enchanting story and then we can also introduce the League of Super Beasts and all these wonderful characters. We have such an amazing cast of actors, and anytime when Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart do what they do together, you know it’s going to be a big, fun ride for the audience.”


League of Super Pets is expected to hit theaters on Friday July 29th. The animated adventure’s theatrical release was delayed along with another Warner Bros. project with Johnson, Black Adam. League of Super Pets took the live-action DC Extended Universe film’s original release date and Black Adam is now expected to hit theaters on October 21st. A reason for the delay was not given.
