ŠKODA presents ENYAQ iV 80 FestEVal: Equipped for camping & music festivals

ŠKODA recently unveiled the ENYAQ iV 80 FestEVal, a version of its iV 80 station wagon equipped with essentials for camping, music festivals or other outdoor adventures.

For the summer of 2022, ŠKODA UK has developed and built the unique ENYAQ iV 80 FestEVal. The trunk-mounted camping box with pull-out bed, luxurious roof tent and additional camping equipment enables emission-free travel and overnight stays at festivals and camping trips.

“Every element of the ENYAQ iV 80 FestEVal’s camping setup is designed to be effortless,” the company said in a press release detailing the project. “Space-saving camping chairs and tables fold up and down in seconds and are ready for use as soon as campers arrive on site. After the music on stage has stopped, campers can keep the party going through the ENYAQ iV’s 8-speaker sound system, while the interior’s ambient lighting provides extra atmosphere into the evening hours.”

The main attraction of the ENYAQ iV 80 FestEVal is an innovative boot-based camping unit designed by Czech manufacturer EGOE. The EGOE “Box” is one of the first of its size and dimensions and fits perfectly into the spacious 585 liter trunk. It slides easily out of the trunk of the car on smooth-running rails and offers a comfortable and stable double bed with a memory foam mattress and ample storage space underneath. It is ideal for those on the go who need to sleep while traveling or park at destination without having to lie flat. The unit’s versatility and design allows the rear seats to be used when traveling and when parked at a campsite it offers one of two sleeping areas in the ENYAQ iV 80 FestEVal.

For those who want to camp in style and comfort, the ENYAQ iV 80 FestEVal is also available with a high-end roof tent. The suite-like sleeping area takes the serenity of electric cars to a new level, with a memory foam mattress, LED lighting and panoramic views through the skylight. The tent itself can be set up and taken down in minutes and features an inner mesh for storage, a solar powered fan and an integrated flashlight for added comfort and convenience.

ŠKODA says the tent doesn’t eat up too much reach when folded, as it has an aerodynamic design that works in tandem with the vehicle’s already slim body. They give a 0.257 drag coefficient, which isn’t great, but it’s not bad compared to most campers.

The ENYAQ iV is the ideal vehicle for all-electric road travel, with a class-leading interior volume of 585 liters (1,710 liters with the rear seats folded) and a range of up to 338 miles between charges. With speeds of up to 135kW, an 80% charge in under 30 minutes and over 10,000 public charging points across the UK, the ENYAQ iV is perfect for long journeys and spontaneous adventures.

The only real question I have at this point is why we don’t see such vehicles in the United States. Electric vehicles are ideal camping vehicles in many ways. They are quiet, have a long range and can be very comfortable with the right gear. They provide power when bo-docking or can be charged at RV parks while you sleep. So far, we’ve seen a few companies like Rivian and Bollinger attempting to break into the US adventure vehicle market with electric pickup trucks and SUVs, but nothing really geared toward the car-and-wagon-based camping and adventure market.
