Shenae Grimes-Beech shares some of the best mommy tips she’s learned so far.

On Sunday, the 32-year-old Canadian actress shared three tips on breastfeeding and weaning with her 450,000 followers on her Instagram story. The former 90210 star and her husband Josh Beech share a daughter, Bowie Scarlett, 3, and a son, 11-month-old Kingsley Taylor.

“Current status: He is doing so much better than I expected,” she wrote of her son’s weaning progress. “This brings me so much comfort because it makes me feel like my maternal instinct was right and we’re ready for this next chapter. He has refused milk from any bottle/cup forever and within 24 hours he’s drinking milk from a sippy cup, no problem.”

“Within 48 hours he fully realized that he doesn’t get boobs during the day,” she continued. “And he only woke up once last night.”

She explained that this was the first time in almost a year that she was able to sleep without waking up every hour or two.

“For the first time in his eleven months of life!” she wrote. I woke up hungover from spending almost a year waking up every 1-2 hours throughout the night. My body had no idea what to do with so much sleep, but I take it and [pray] that it wasn’t a coincidence.”

“Second most popular tip: Put band-aids on your nipples and tell the baby they’re busted,” Grimes-Beech wrote. “No joke. At least 50 people said they didn’t get it, and it worked.

“Third popular tip: Drop one grooming session at a time, usually finish before bed,” she continued. “I actually drop a feed a day and so far so good. Started with the morning, then the afternoon which was tougher and tonight I’ll see if I can do without in the middle of the night because it’s definitely more of a comfort/habit than starvation at this point.”

In June, the Degrassi graduate shared a candid maternity update, admitting she was “desperate for a full night’s sleep.”

“Still incredibly exhausted. He still wakes up every 1-2 hours on average (except on vacation – he literally slept 11 hours with 1-2 wakes. Thought it was the travel cot so tried at home but no luck)” , wrote the mother of two. “I still choose not to train in my sleep this time. First of all. Still too tired to even think about weaning.

“I’m still head over heels in love with literally every inch of my little smiley face. Still heartbroken at how fast everything is moving,” she continued. “I still wish I could freeze time because now is the time of my life. Still desperate for a full night’s sleep. Still everywhere because, well, motherhood.”

Just last week, Grimes-Beech shared an additional “life update,” in which she explained that she’s been feeling “overwhelmed” by her to-do list lately.

“Overwhelmed by how much I have to be thankful for at this point in life, and also just overwhelmed,” she continued, adding that she and her husband announced “big plans” on the “personal and professional front.”

“I’m snappy, I’m frustrated, it’s just not fun to be here,” she shared. “I don’t like it, but I struggle to find the ability to do the mental processing or physical activities that could get me into a calmer headspace. I keep thinking that if I just cross ABCDEFGXYZ off the list, I’ll be able to relax, find time to take care of myself, and be more present to spend more time with my family enjoy.”

The actress revealed that she hadn’t gotten much sleep at the top of her seemingly never-ending to-do list because she “avoids” weaning her son.

“Then I move on and the list seems to get longer instead of shorter. And all while still avoiding weaning because I have no idea how?!” Grimes-Beech penned. “And waking up every hour of the night because I avoid weaning and my baby seeks comfort every time he rolls over. Woo-f-ing-sah right?!”

“I know it’s just one season, I know it’s really all I asked for, but I also know my eyes have always been sort of bigger than my stomach,” the Toronto native wrote. “I realize I bit off more than I can chew and, more importantly, I enjoyed it.”

“That’s exactly why I shared these little life updates,” she added. “When we share, someone else learns they’re not alone in carrying the weight of the world, and the burden may feel lighter.”
