Not on the same page. During the filming of season 10 of Vanderpump Rules, Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney were apparently in the middle of a relationship drama.
According to video released by TMZ on Monday, Aug. 1, the former couple were seen arguing while sitting alone at a booth where Schwartz and Sandy reportedly flirted with another woman during the evening. Their fight was filmed by multiple cameras for the hit Bravo series.
The disagreement comes after Tom recently revealed he was still concerned about dating someone new amid his divorce. “No way! [Dating] sounds awful to me,” he said exclusively Us weekly late last month. “By the way, I’ve thought about it a lot. The prospect of dating sounds daunting to me and I dread going on my first date. I refuse to do it.”
At the time, the Minnesota native also opened up about dealing with a “big change” in his personal life. “I’m re-learning how to be myself. Not that I’ve ever been codependent,” he added. “I think that happens to some of the other cast members too. reliving how to exist as an individual in the world, [is] strange. I feel dirty saying that.”
For her part, Katie seemed more on board to find a connection with someone new. “[I would like to] Have fun and get out there and flirt and maybe kiss some guys,” she shared Us. “I can’t get into a relationship right now. First of all, I’m not even divorced.”
Noting that she was looking for a casual relationship, the You’re Gonna Love Me podcast host added, “Just someone who wants to make out and have fun. Someone who doesn’t try to get too serious. Many [guys] are really young and that’s fun too. I’m kind of in a Puma era. Since I’m 36 I can date the boy and the boy’s father. So I love that for me.”
Earlier this year, the Vanderpump Rules star announced their split after more than a decade.
“Well that sucks,” the TomTom co-owner wrote via Instagram in March. “I’m not the victim. I won’t write a song that’s too sad. Fully respect Katie’s decision and we’ve had healthy, productive conversations about it. It would be a lot sadder if she decided to stay with me even though she’s not happy.”
In his lengthy statement, Tom said his “heart aches” as he faces the next chapter of his life. “How am I supposed to capture 12 years of love in a canned freaking Instagram caption. I’m not ready to use the ‘D’ word yet [because] it’s too painful,” he continued. “We’ve had some of the happiest, most romantic and fun times humanly possible over the course of our relationship. I speak of heavenly joy on earth plane. She taught me so much about love and being a better partner.”
During her interview with Us, Katie praised the couple’s ability to turn their marriage into a friendship. “It’s just a way of removing an aspect of the relationship. You just extract that and then you’re left with your friendship,” she explained, confirming that still keeping in touch with Tom wasn’t uncomfortable. “We were friends the entire time we were together, too.”
