Prince George shows off his smile in his latest birthday photo!
Prince William and Kate Middleton released a new portrait of their eldest son on Thursday to mark his upcoming birthday.
“George turns 9!” The photo was tagged with a birthday cake and a balloon emoji on social media.
The photo was taken while the family was on holiday in the UK earlier this month. The photo shows Prince George – who looks a lot like dad Prince William! – wears a blue polo shirt and flashes a huge grin at the camera.
“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to share a new photo of Prince George ahead of his ninth birthday tomorrow,” the couple said in a statement.
As in previous years, Kate acted as photographer to capture the perfect birthday photo. The mother-of-three is also known for being behind the camera at the birthdays of Prince George’s younger siblings, 7-year-old Princess Charlotte and 4-year-old Prince Louis.

Prince William and Kate have released official portraits for each of George’s birthdays. When he turned one, they posted a series of beautiful photos of him and his parents taken at a butterfly exhibition at London’s Natural History Museum.
Last year, to mark George’s 8th birthday, Kate got behind the camera for a shot of the future monarch sitting on the bonnet of a car and grinning at the camera in a blue polo shirt with orange stripes.
The portrait appeared to be a subtle tribute to the birthday boy’s great-grandfather, Prince Philip, who died in April 2021 at the age of 99. Prince George appeared to be riding a Land Rover, a favorite of Queen Elizabeth’s husband – he even had his coffin carry a custom version of the vehicle for his funeral.
Prince George had an exciting start to his summer as he made his Wimbledon debut on Sunday to watch the men’s final with his parents. Sitting in the front row of the Royal Box at Center Court, George looked handsome in a suit and tie, and he even got to hold the coveted trophy as the family met winner Novak Djokovic.

This summer will likely involve a big move for the family. Kate and Prince William are planning to move from Kensington Palace to a new residence about 30 miles west in Berkshire, the county that is home to the Queen’s main residence, Windsor Castle. It has been widely reported that the family will occupy Adelaide Cottage on the Windsor estate, but this is unconfirmed.
