break his silence To Katie Thurston reveals that she is blocked Nick Viallthe former bachelor and girlfriend Natalie Joy questions their intentions.
During a new episode of The Viall Files podcast, released Monday, July 11, the couple called out on Thurston’s decision to name their contestants after their season ended last summer.
“I hear so much [while hosting ‘The Viall Files’] over all. There’s so much I know, and that’s one of the reasons I have this rule. When people want to post things that we can respond to [then] fine. But I don’t want to air the laundry of people I hear about or how they’ve treated other people,” explained Viall, 41, referring to the former Bachelorette’s occasional Instagram Q&A.
He continued: “I’ve heard some horror stories about my colleagues but I don’t want to publish everything. It’s almost as if [Katie] feels like she has that ownership of these guys from her season.
For her part, Joy, 24, pointed out that she had “such a problem” with recent comments from Thurston, 31, about Viall.
“It really got me when I was tagged on Instagram in a cute little TikTok roll of wife Katie Thurston talking about Nick. I see it and I was just really confused because [it starts off] with someone who asks, “Why does Nick Viall hate you?” And she says, ‘Nick Viall is blocked from my phone.’ As if she had any reason to block Nick,” the model shared. “I know for a fact that Nick was always just trying to help her and give her advice. Which she never took.”
The Maryland native, who went public with Viall in January 2021, claimed Thurston was “trying to protect himself” from texting the podcast host. “I think she’s spreading a lie, and I think we need to show the truth,” Joy said, before asking her boyfriend to read his last text message from the former bank marketing executive.
Viall recalled speaking to Thurston about her season while it was still airing.
“The whole conversation started because I tweeted about an upcoming episode of hers and she texted me, ‘Best TV? boo.’ Then I offered my quick thoughts on the episode,” he said. “But the line Natalie was referring to was, ‘Ultimately, my opinion of Greg doesn’t matter. I knew before he left that he wasn’t the one. It was hard to look back and always give him validation just for him to go the way he did. But I knew even then that there was no way he and I would have worked in the real world.’”
After his girlfriend read Thurston’s text, Viall added, “Then I wrote, ‘It’s good that you have clarity. As long as you’re happy, that’s important.”
The couple’s response comes after Thurston made headlines for joking that she “forgets[s]’ about Viall’s existence. “Nick Viall doesn’t like you? Nick Viall is blocked from my phone. There’s some tea for you,” she told fans during a TikTok Live Q&A session on Sunday, July 10. “I don’t know, Nick is just — I don’t know what to say about him to be honest.”
She continued, “Sometimes I get DMs that are like, ‘Oh my god, Nick won’t stop talking shit about you. I texted him once and said, ‘Hey, just so you know, people find the things you say [about me] kinda weird.’ And in short, he basically [turned it around on me]. He was like, ‘How great that you have fans who care about you! Do not take it personally!’ However. you do it See you up there.”
Thurston originally rose to stardom after leading Season 17 of The Bachelorette. After a complicated connection with the candidate Gregory GrippoThe Washington native walked away engaged Blake Moynes. They wrapped it up in October 2021, almost three months after the finale aired.
A month later, Thurston announced that she had reconnected with him John Hersey after sending him home early in their season. The duo dated for less than a year before splitting in June.
