A beautiful love story. Natalie Portman and her husband for almost 10 years, Benjamin MillepiedShe met on the set of her film Black Swan in 2009.
“I think I was like in dreamland. So, it was pretty… it seemed pretty funny the whole time,” Portman said of Sirius XM Town Hall during a June 2018 interview about meeting her husband while filming the psychological thriller.
That war of stars The actress added that she’s not sure she has an “instant” connection with the French dancer, who is a choreographer with Black Swan. “It was like I really got to know him and then it was like, ‘Oh right, that’s the person,'” she shared.
In February 2011, Portman won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her work in the film Darren Aronofsky Movie. At the time, she and Millepied were engaged and expecting their first child together. That V for Vendetta Actress thanked her then-fiancé during her acceptance speech.
“To my beautiful love, Benjamin Millepied, who choreographed the film and has now given me the most important role of my life,” she said, pointing to her stomach.
The couple welcomed their son Aleph in June 2011. The following July, Portman told France Mrs. Figaro This family was her priority. “Nothing is more important than my private life,” she said at the time. “It’s something that comes first, always makes sense, and everything else is practically shallow compared to the happiness of a successful family life.”
In August 2012, Portman and Millepied had an intimate wedding near Big Sur, California, after announcing their engagement in late 2010. Their daughter Amalia was born in 2017.
“I’m less judgmental than I was before I had a kid. Aside from raising children together, Millepied and Portman got another chance to collaborate professionally on the 2018 film Vox Lux. That Thor: Love and Thunder The actress played fictional pop star Celeste Montgomery and her husband choreographed her dance scenes.
The former principal dancer with the New York City Ballet also gushed about his wife’s advocacy; Portman is a staunch advocate of animal rights and a supporter of poverty alleviation.
“Your work was an inspiration. You know, she’s been so driven, you know, this last year, to make the world a better place,” he said Us Weeklyy in October 2018. “I find it inspiring. We’re talking about what [and] how you make a difference … for me it’s about making a difference at home. It creates, you know, it helps create that community, a sense of community.”
