Whenever Marvel Studios makes big announcements about its upcoming projects, fan excitement is both extreme and contagious. Unfortunately, such events have happened much less with COVID and the pandemic. The biggest recent event was at SDCC in 2019, where almost all of Phase 4 was announced. Then there was the odd showcase during an investor meeting in 2020, with a more traditional but smaller showcase on Disney+ Day in 2021.
Thankfully, the studio appears to be gearing up for some big announcements. For the first time in three years, Marvel Studios is returning to Comic-Con San Diego. Not only will they be returning for their iconic Hall H panel, they’ll even have a second giant panel dedicated to their animation projects.
But when can fans expect these juicy new announcements? With the convention two weeks away, the exact time and date for the big MCU event has finally been announced.
Marvel Studios “Mega Panel” at San Diego Comic-Con 2022
As Deadline reports, the official timing for Marvel Studios’ big San Diego Comic-Con panel has been announced.
Marvel Studios will again take over Hall H on Saturday, July 23 at 5:00pm PST and will be described as a “Mega Panel” through the socket. In the report are the MCU’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and She Hulk were both mentioned as part of the presentation – although that’s probably just part of what’s being talked about.
Marvel Studios President and Producer Kevin Feige and special guests provide an insight into the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The event lasts just one hour, which is 30 minutes less than the time Marvel Studios spent on stage in 2019.
In addition to their large panel in Hall H, the large studio will have a completely separate panel for its animation projects the day before, including X Men ’97, Marvel zombies, What happened if…?and more.
The studio is also expected to pick up some announcements for both Disney+ tag and D23 in early September.
What can Marvel fans expect?
Now the big question remains – besides both Wakanda forever and She Hulkwhat can fans expect?
Given the recent allusion to a Phase 5 roadmap by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, SDCC would be the perfect place to unveil those plans. There are many questions about when films such as Fantastic Four or Captain America 4 to be released, with fans eager to know the answers.
Then there’s the M-word: mutants. Could this finally be the year that Marvel reveals their plans for the iconic characters?
The studio will likely show footage from projects that have already been filmed, which leaves a lot of possibilities; Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania, Secret invasion, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The wondersand more.
As exciting as their SDCC presence may seem, it’s important to keep expectations in check. You still have Disney+ tag and D23 to save announcements.
In any case, fans will get some exciting announcements at all the different events.
She Hulk hits Disney+ on August 17, while Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hits theaters on November 11th.
