Jennifer Lopez has declared that a good night’s sleep is her ultimate beauty secret.

The 52-year-old actress and singer believes sleeping at least 7 hours is more effective than any expensive moisturizer and is an important part of her beauty regimen – which she describes as the 5 S’s: sunscreen, serum, supplements, sano (living well) and sleep.

“We don’t value sleep. We appreciate grinding and working hard — and admittedly no one gets caught up in this rat race more than me,” she shared in the latest edition of her On The JLo newsletter.

“However, I’ve found that sleep is my most underrated beauty secret. It’s a JLo Beauty tenet and part of my 5S: Sunscreen, Serum, Supplements, (vivir) Sano and SLEEP!’ added the mother of two.

“Getting at least 7 to 9 hours of sleep every night can be a game changer.”

She went on to reveal that she went through a phase in her 20s when her career took off and she slept less than five hours a night.

The ‘On The 6’ star admitted that exhaustion led to debilitating panic attacks and she decided to lead a healthier lifestyle by embracing wellness.

Jennifer added: “Since then I’ve been trying to live a very healthy and balanced life. As I slept more and took care of myself, I realized that it was about pro-living versus anti-aging… I think of sleep as a little time machine.

“You lie down and go into a space where you preserve yourself, and then you come out a new, younger person than you were before.”

Finally, Jennifer emphasized that she often looks 10 years younger after a really good night’s sleep.

She continued, “Sometimes I wake up and I’m like, ‘Wow! I just lost 10 years on my face!’

“That’s what a good night’s sleep can do for you, and it accumulates over time. For better or for worse, the pandemic has slowed us all down and it has definitely slowed me down and made me realize that all we have control over is ourselves. So go to sleep!’
