I thought it was a little. Based on the reaction in the room, I think the majority of people who attended the Warner Bros. panel at CinemaCon 2022 in Las Vegas assumed that was part of the performance as well. Actress and director Olivia Wilde spoke about it on stage her forthcoming directorial work don’t worry darling, starring Florence Pugh, Chris Pine and Harry Styles. In the middle of her speech, Wilde was approached by a lady in the crowd and papers handed over, which the director obviously didn’t know was coming. She looked at them, understood what they were, and moved on. We eventually learned the papers were custody papers served to her by her ex, Jason Sudeikis, and now we’re learning more about why that is Teddy Lasso star chose this method.
Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis split in 2020 after dating for nine years. Shortly after the breakup Wilde began a relationship with singer and actor Harry Styles, which continues to this day. And Styles has reportedly factored in Sudeikis’ decision to deliver his ex-stickers in Las Vegas at CinemaCon, as documented in The Daily Mail.
The main issue between Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis
This boils down to a custody talk where Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis will co-parent their two children, Otis and Daisy. The family has reportedly spent most of their time either in New York (where Sudeikis worked on it for years Saturday night live) or Los Angeles. Because Wilde was recently talking about moving to London with the kids and Sudeikis reportedly wants them to move to Brooklyn, he decided to send her papers.
But Sudeikis also made it clear that he wanted to avoid Harry Styles when delivering (or having delivered) these papers, clarifying:
So he decided to make a very public appearance while his ex took the stage in Las Vegas promoting their continued success book smart. That’s pretty tough. He now claims that this was never his intention and that the bailiff tried to deliver the papers to Wilde’s hotel. When that didn’t work, she popped up on the Warner Bros. panel. Regarding the mode of delivery, Sudeikis continued:
Those words do nothing to ease Wilde’s feelings on the matter, as she still believes Sudeikis intentionally tried to “embarrass” and “threaten” her by updating the WB panel of her troubles . That could be why a judge recently sided with the actress in the ongoing affair.
A judge rules in favor of Olivia Wilde
Jason Sudeikis filed court documents that would allow his children, Otis and Daisy, to live with him in New York. He planned to move into his home in Brooklyn after filming the third season of Teddy Lasso had completed. It was his hope that Wilde and the kids would move to New York State…unless a judge now ruled against the SNL graduate and in Wilde’s favor.
Corresponding personsa judge denied Sudeikis’ custody request for the following reasons:
As a result, the two children will remain in California. That doesn’t seem to address Olivia Wilde’s concerns about moving Jason Sudeikis’ kids to London if she wanted to move in with current boyfriend Harry Styles. This feels like a step in the process, but not the complete solution, which is often the case with lengthy custody battles that play out in public.
Maybe we’ll hear more about that as we get closer to the release of don’t worry darlinga film that is already making headlines alleged drama between the leads Florence Pugh and Styles. There are some too hot love scenes between Styles and Pugh in the film, which must be unusual given that Wilde is the director. Nonetheless, the film will be making the rounds at the Fall Film Festival in hopes of generating some kind of buzz that could carry it through awards season.
