Disney Plus series Mrs Miracle finds its finale today (Wednesday). As fans wait with bated breath for the episode, it’s important to point out that despite many reservations from viewers and critics, the Iman Vellani starring show has already passed with flying colors. Ms Marvel is the highest-rated MCU show or film to date, with an impressive 98 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, beating Black Panther (96 percent), Avengers: Endgame, and Iron Man (both at 96 percent).

When the show started, it was hit with a wave of 1-star reviews and dismissed as “cringe”. However, the show bounced back, rising from the lowest-rated Marvel Cinematic Universe series to the top of the list. Show co-creator Sana Amanat told NBC of how Ms. Marvel resonated with audiences: “I think it comes from a place of anger and a feeling that her identity is being threatened. If they can’t connect to it, that’s fine. I just wish they wouldn’t try to put it down.”

She said the show is now giving South Asian teenagers a sense of connection. “It’s amazing to see how they internalize these images. I just hope it gives them a sense of competence, which I honestly didn’t have growing up, and a sense of connection to their culture and who they are, because I think that’s incredibly important,” she said.

In a recent interview, Indian actor Mohan Kapur, who plays Kamala Khan’s father Yusuf Khan on the show, said he’s enjoyed his ride as a character in the Marvel series and is overwhelmed by the love of fans.

“Just because you’ve seen such cute things as people say you’re the best dad in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. You are the best dad ever in my green hulk scene everyone loves. It’s just amazing stuff man,” Mohan told News18.

The actor also spoke about sharing screen space with his off-role and new daughter MCU Star Iman Vellani. “What you see is what she actually is in real life. She’s Kamala Khan because she’s a die-hard Marvel fan, so she just adapted to the role. To me I just think that she is such a cute looking kid that I feel the fatherly feelings for her. If Iman was my daughter, we would be like that,” added Mohan.

The actor also lamented not being part of the Karachi schedule, saying that the Partition part was done with great care by the Marvel team, adding that the world should know about it as it is “our.” genocide”.

Mohan Kapur will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Brie Larson star The Marvels.
