First Look At Dakota Johnson In Spider-Man’s Madame Web Movie (Video)

Sony Pictures continues to expand its Spider-Man universe alongside the MCU, adding new characters like Tom Hardy’s Venom and Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Kraven the Hunter to the mix. Currently in the spotlight is the little-known Madame Web, who is set to star in her feature film debut next year fifty shades of gray‘s Dakota Johnson starring.

Mrs. Netz is still shrouded in mystery even as cameras start rolling ahead of the film’s theatrical debut on October 6, 2023. Johnson will have an outstanding cast around her thanks to the efforts of euphoriais Sydney Sweeney and Parks and Recreation‘s Adam Scott, though there’s no word yet on what roles they’ll actually play in this Spider-Man spin-off.

This new entry will reportedly give Madame Web a proper origin story in Sony’s Spider-Man universe, but how the story connects remains largely unknown when production kicks off. While that’s still the case with the latest update, fans now have their first official look at Dakota Johnson, who is making her superhero film debut with Sony.

The second Video is 13 seconds long and shows Johnson standing in the doorway of the same building, although there are no details to indicate where it might be within the story itself:

These videos are from Allston, Massachusetts, just outside of Boston.

What’s in store for Madame Web Solo Movie?

Watching these few videos, it’s difficult to single out specific plot points considering there’s no indication of a location or other characters that Dakota Johnson interacts with. Also, her costume raises some interesting questions about the character she actually plays in the Spider-Man universe.

Her costume is eerily reminiscent of Julia Carpenter, known as both Spider-Woman and Madame Web in the comics. Although it’s currently believed that Dakota Johnson will play the original Madame Web, Cassandra Webb, there’s no way to be sure as no official cast lists are out in the public domain and the film has still not premiered in over a year .

Regardless, it’s exciting to see Johnson at work on Sony’s latest Spider-Man film, which the company hopes will expand its often-maligned universe into the new era. With her psychic abilities and a story possibly set almost 20 years in the past, Sony hopes this film will fare better with the public than recent films disease.

Mrs. Netz hits theaters on October 6, 2023.
