DRIFT & avant arte create Sine, a work of art that reflects the rhythms of nature

DRIFT and Avant Arte creates oscillating sinus sculptures

Limited edition sculpture Sine marks the second collaboration between DRIFT and AvantArte. The artwork’s intricate structure consists of a pair of glass wings that sway up and down, mimicking the “natural rhythms” of the world, which the artists seek to exploit, as the creative duo of DRIFT – Ralph Nauta and Lonneke Gordijn – believe that these Rhythms can have a positive impact on one’s condition.

Avant Artethe creative marketplace that makes discovering and owning art radically more accessible announces its second collaboration with DRIFT for the unique Limited Edition Sine that reflects the rhythms of the natural world, from the frequency of waves breaking on a shore, the wind howling through the trees, to the simple act of breathing.

“We are delighted to partner with Avant Arte once again to bring this collector’s edition to life every day. For us, the sinus movement is the mother of all movements. We believe that everything in this world has its own frequency made up of sinusoidal waves. Our goal in all our work is always to synchronize all movements. So our mission is balance, synchronization, to get everyone on the same page. Because you only get ahead in life when everything is right. And that’s basically the basic law of everything. says Lonneke Gordijn from DRIFT.

With an edition of 50 room sculptures, Sine is indeed inspired by DRIFT amplitude Piece permanently installed at Rockefeller Center, New York. The artwork brings to life DRIFT’s ongoing exploration of the world around us and is inspired by the belief that the steady rhythms, abundant in nature, can have a material impact on humankind.

“We are delighted to be collaborating with Lonneke and Ralph on this beautiful edition. DRIFT creates the world’s most spectacular large-scale installations inspired by nature and technology. I’m thrilled that we were able to create such a unique edition for collectors to have their very own DRIFT Sine in their home. explains Christian Luiten, head of the artist community and co-founder of Avant Arte.

the filigree design of the sinus

Sine consists of two delicate glass wings that perform what DRIFT describes as “natural rhythm”. The swinging up and down of the individual elements is triggered by weights sliding back and forth, which are synchronized by a computer. These movements in turn try to synchronize the spectators and unite them through simple movements. By fusing these aspects, DRIFT believes that work can have a positive impact on one’s condition.
