DAVID LEE ROTH denies blowing up AC/DC fans, says EDDIE VAN HALEN is ‘culturally illiterate’

VAN HALEN Singer David Lee Roth has responded to a recent controversial Rolling Stone article, “Inside A Superfan’s Secret Friendship With Eddie Van Halen,” in which a former music journalist opened up about his supposedly secret five-year correspondence with the late rock icon. in the article, Blair R Fisher claims that the legendary VAN HALEN Guitarist took the opportunity to eviscerate in an email Roth about that VAN HALEN couldn’t agree on a way to make new music.

“The reason it took so long [VAN HALEN‘s 2012 album ‘A Different Kind Of Truth’ to come out] is Rothincluding all reheated demos,” he claimed Eddie van Halen wrote. He also blamed the singer for it VAN HALEN “To have nothing but a live record [2015’s ‘Tokyo Dome Live In Concert’] to show three years of downtime.” That claimed Eddie kept saying that Roth just wants to be on stage and do his “vaudeville shitick!”, adding: “Roth is crazy” and not at all interested in rock ‘n’ roll Eddie said then Roth just likes “dance music” and “hates bands like AC / DC,” claim that Roth calls the fans of this band “culturally illiterate”.

A representative for VAN HALEN said the band and EddieThe family declined to comment Rolling Stone Article, as well as a representative for Eddies son Wolfgang Van Halenwho replaced bassist/vocalist Michael Anton to the VAN HALEN‘s reunion tour 2007 with Roth and stayed in the band for the recording of “A Different Kind of Truth”. However, Roth decided to break his silence on the matter by posting a brief statement on the Van Halen News Desk website. He wrote: “1. i have always loved AC / DC. 2. I never said anyone’s audience was culturally illiterate. i said that Ed was culturally illiterate.” He added, “God bless our troops…”

Eddie died in October 2020 at the age of 65. The Legendary VAN HALEN Guitarist died at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, California.

Eddie was diagnosed with oral cancer in 2000 and had tongue surgery. He later battled lung cancer and was irradiated in Germany. In early 2019, the situation worsened Eddie had a motorcycle accident. He was subsequently diagnosed with a brain tumor and underwent gamma knife radiosurgery to treat the disease.

VAN HALEN has been inactive since concluding his US tour in October 2015 in Los Angeles, California.

Just three months before Eddiepasses, Roth said he didn’t know if Van Halen would tour again and again. He said The New York Times at the time: “I don’t even want to say I waited — I did supports for five years. Because what I do is both physical and musical and spiritual – you can’t take five years off the ring. But I did. And I don’t regret a second of it. He’s a bandmate. We had a colleague downstairs. And he’s been down so long now I don’t know if he’ll be back on the road. Want to hear the classics? You talk to him.”

Roth canceled a series of residency shows in Las Vegas in January due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Three months earlier he had announced in an interview with the Las Vegas Review Journal that he was planning to retire after the residency.

earlier this month, Roth released a new solo song titled “Point to the Moon”. The Americana-flavored acoustic-based tune was accompanied by a new abstract painting by Roth.
