Pop Art and Pop-Ups demonstrate the interactive potential of analog media and together create an epic moment in art and publishing. Art pop-up book publisher Poposition Press is collaborating with the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Inc. on an upcoming series of officially licensed pop-up books and cards that will chronicle the career of iconic visual and conceptual artist Andy Warhol (1928 -1987). . With four books planned spanning four decades, the iconic artist’s work takes on a new form and literally jumps off the page. This series recontextualizes a piece of our collective history and changes how fans view Warhol’s work through pop-up sculptures and reinterpretations of the artist’s seminal art.

Poposition Press, led by founder Rosston Meyer, is one of the few companies that self-publishes pop-up books, setting itself apart from the start. Since their inception, they have catapulted themselves to the forefront of the art book scene with their expertly designed pieces and coveted editions.

The first issue in the series entitled Pop Up Pop Art – The Silver Manufactory, will feature pop-up versions of Warhol’s iconic works from The Silver Factory in the 1960s to celebrate 60 years since Warhol’s first solo exhibition. The pages inside Pop Up Pop Art include interactive elements, optical illusions and special Easter eggs for real Warhol fans, making it an immersive and engaging experience.

The standard edition of the book Pop Up Pop Art Silver Factory ($60) contains 8 spreads with 7 pop-ups including Campbell’s soup cans, banana, Andy’s photo booth, Marilyn Monroe, Flower, Brillo Box sculptures and Andy’s self-portrait from 1964. But in the spirit of Warhol himself, standard just isn’t enough. There’s also a special edition that comes in a triple foil stamped sleeve and packaged in a special slipcase featuring Andy’s 1964 self-portrait screenprint ($375). The special edition also includes a Silver Clouds individually bound pop-up spread.

Poposition extends this collaboration to other paper mediums as well, with four pop-up greeting cards featuring bananas, flowers, Brillo Box sculpts and Campbell’s Soup Cans. Greeting cards will be available individually ($12) and in a set of 8 cards ($50) to let the pop art live on the shelf and in the mailboxes, hands and hearts of loved ones. There’s also an oversized pop-up banana sculpture in the collection ($75).

This first collection marks the beginning of what is sure to be a successful and widely loved collaboration, bringing well-loved works to bookshelves and coffee tables around the world.
