“I feel bad. JoJo, I’m so sorry!”
This week, JoJo Siwa made headlines after participating in a TikTok trend where she revealed the coolest celebrity she’s met, her celebrity crush, and the nicest, rudest celebs she’s ever met.
Apparently, that moment made headlines everywhere. And now, Candace has responded in a five-minute video on her Instagram.
Candace said she was shocked when she saw the TikTok. “I immediately tried to reach her through mutual friends and my publicist contacted her manager and I DMed her because I didn’t know what happened — I didn’t know!”
“So I finally got to talk to JoJo this morning. I’ve called you. And we had a great conversation. She said, ‘Hey, how are you?’ I said, ‘Well I got better, what happened?’”
Candace said JoJo said she was surprised it became such a “big deal” because it was a TikTok trend. Candace assured her it was a big deal, then asked, “What have I done because all I remember is that we met The Kelly Clarkson Show, and it went great,” and she’s like, “Yeah! It was really great! You were super nice and all,'” she said.
“She actually didn’t want to tell me because she said it was so silly, she felt bad and that’s why she just didn’t care,” she continued. “But then she said, ‘I met you at her fuller house Premiered when I was 11 and we were all on the red carpet.’”
“I came up to you and said, ‘Can I have a picture with you?’ and you said to me, ‘Not now.’ And then you just kept doing what you were doing and taking pictures with other people on the red carpet.'”
Candace said, “Oh, JoJo, I’m so sorry,” to which Candace said, JoJo said, “Yeah, you weren’t even mean, and I understand it now as an adult when you’re on the red carpet and everything happened.” and you will be pulled in different directions. But at the time I was 11.”
And then Candace shared what she said to JoJo in response to that. “I kind of broke your 11 year old heart, I didn’t take a picture with you! I feel bad,” she said. “JoJo, I’m so sorry!”
JoJo told her over the phone that it was “no big deal.” In her video, Candace went on to say that she still apologized to JoJo. “Please know it breaks my heart especially as a mother that I made you feel this way and I also feel sorry for your mother for doing this to her daughter because I know if someone is crossing my children, mum Bear comes out.”
“We had a really great discussion,” Candace said. She also said JoJo said, “I didn’t even think that was going to be picked up and a big deal. It was very, kind of innocent.”
Candace then said, “That was it. All good on the JoJo front.”
“The lesson we can learn is to be aware that no matter how many followers you have, even a 10 second trending Tiktok video can do harm because our words matter and our actions matter.” ‘ said Candace. “Whether you have 50 million followers or 500 followers or five followers, we all influence the people around us.”
“We shared our joy for each other. We’re both positive, empowering people, and I told JoJo how much I always appreciated her because she’s been a good role model her whole life and career because of her positive attitude,” Cameron said. “She said she still loves to watch Full house and watch it to fall asleep and it’s a comfort show for her so we all had feelings and it was all good and there’s no drama. That’s the tea.”
Candace then said, as a side note, “If you’ve ever met me in person and I wasn’t the person you were hoping or expecting, I just want to say I’m sorry. Sorry in the sense that I get asked for photos and autographs often and 99% of the time I enjoy doing it. I’m still human. All public people are.”
JoJo has yet to respond to Candace’s video or verify Candace’s account. You can watch the full Candace video here.
