Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band announce 2023 US tour

Bruce Springsteen has announced the dates for his long-awaited 2023 North American tour with the E Street Band. It begins February 1st in Tampa, Florida and ends April 14th in Newark, New Jersey. Ticket sales begin on July 20th.

Springsteen last played a concert with the E Street Band when her Flow Tour concluded on February 25, 2017 at Mt. Smart Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand. But they haven’t played in North America since September 2016, and their only live performance of any kind in the past five years came in 2020, when they continued playing two songs Saturday night live carry Letter to you. This was their longest absence from the road since Springsteen reunited with the band in 1999 after an 11-year hiatus during which he toured both solo and with another backing group.

They were originally supposed to take to the streets in support in 2020 Letter to you, and dates were later set for 2022, but the pandemic forced them to ultimately reschedule the tour to 2023. “I’m just dying to play,” Springsteen told SiriusXM’s E Street Radio earlier this year. “Not just to play, but to travel and see our fans in all these distant cities.”

In the same interview, he said the tour will be a mix of classics and a selection of his more recent albums. “There will be a significant amount of newer material, and then of course we’ll play a lot of music that fans are familiar with and enjoy listening to,” he said. “There should be a balance … the show should feel contemporary, and you should feel at home at the same time.”

That doesn’t mean he’ll try to play many of his songs western stars. “I want it to remain a rock show,” he said. “As soon as you’re in an arena or a stadium, people come to see a rock ‘n’ roll show… But you never know, something from that record may squeak in there.” It’s not impossible. I’ll have to wait and see.”

The tour takes in a series of stadium shows in Europe from April 28th to July 25th. It’ll then head back to America for a late summer/early fall stadium run, although those dates are yet to be announced.
