Billion-dollar company Activision Blizzard steals indie artist’s design for COD Vanguard

Call of Duty developer Activision Blizzard has allegedly plagiarized COD Vanguard Samoye Skin in the Floof Fury Tracer Pack. The scandalous allegation came to light on Twitter after the creator of the original design revealed the striking similarities between his original art and the cosmetics promoted by COD Vanguard. And this spread like wildfire throughout the gaming community, strongly condemning what Activision Blizzard has done.

The author of the original art posted an image and tweet comparing his original work to the Floof Fury Tracer Pack available in Call of Duty, and the response has been tremendous. And if you think this is outrageous, unfortunately it’s not the first time it’s happened.

The original artist claims Activision plagiarized his work down to the smallest detail.

Activision Blizzard Allegedly Plagiarized COD Vanguard Samoyed Skin

Concept artist Sailin5 posted his original artwork on Artstation, and it’s part of a collection of animals wearing military gear. In his collection he has a wolf, a fox, a kitten, a tiger and two human figures, a picture of cityscapes and some weapon concept art. Additionally, if you check his profile, his history of creating content of this style goes way back. So imagine his outrage when he sees Activision Blizzard take his work and put it on Call of Duty as cosmetic skin with no recognition.

If you look at the picture above, the similarities in style, headscarf, boots, coat and backpack are striking. When Sailin5 posted his tweet, he wrote, “He needs to explain this matter.” Still, he’s not sure who to speak to about the alleged copyright infringement. If he takes that legal route it will be a David versus Goliath battle as Activision would use a huge army of lawyers to settle the matter out of court and settle him in a plea deal as these issues usually end.

Sailin5 expects compensation

For Sailin5 he expects compensation for his work; He claims he has asked Activision for an explanation and wants to reach out to the media so his case can be heard. He expects the situation to be settled soon because he plays Call of Duty and wishes things like this to stop.

The skin is part of this cosmetic pack.

And it’s not the first time they’ve been accused of plagiarizing a skin

Back in 2021, Activision saw another scandal involving alleged plagiarism of a character in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, a character dubbed “Cade Janus” being at the center of a dispute over the COD developer, the key aspects of his image for the Mara- Figure uses included pose, weapons, gender, hair color, equipment and makeup. Essentially, Activision ripped off the character and the matter went to court. Can Activision’s 3D artists be a little original? Or at least pay artists for their work instead of forcing them to accept petty money for their work? We can only wait and see how this problem develops. That’s all the information we have on the subject at the moment. Thank you for your attention. Have fun playing and see you soon!
