american idol has announced who will be returning for next season, and Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie and host Ryan Seacrest are all returning.
It will be the 21st season of the singing competition – Seacrest has hosted every season, while it will be the sixth year for the judges, who all joined when the show switched from Fox to ABC.
Auditions begin next month ahead of the show’s spring 2023 airing date.
Earlier this year, the show crowned its 20th winner, with Noah Thompson defeating HunterGirl in the finals.
After his win, Noah took to Instagram to thank all of his fans for voting for him to win the show.
“I had a hard time writing this post because I really couldn’t find the words for it. I was in complete shock at that moment and I still am and probably always will be!” wrote Thompson.
“Thank you all for giving me this opportunity, thank you for everyone who voted, thank you for everything!! I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for all of you, so thank you very much. I look forward to continuing this journey and seeing where this thing goes. I love you all.”

The singer then announced his exit from the music competition after making the top five, stating: “Hey everyone, this is going to be a little surprise. A video has surfaced on the internet showing actions that should not be performed in this way.
“I was younger and didn’t think about the actions, but that’s no excuse. I want to apologize to all my fans and everyone I let down.”
